3 Dutch treasures bring the Netherlands to West Michigan

HOLLAND, MI -- A small slice of the Netherlands sits out on the Macatawa River delta, bringing hundreds of years of Dutch history to modern day.

The city of Holland built a 36-acre park, Windmill Island, around the historic De Zwaan windmill and opened it to the public in 1965. The island has continued to collect pieces of Dutch heritage in celebration of the 250,000 Dutch Americans who live in West Michigan.
