3 things we learned: Jared Goff emerging as MVP frontrunner

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Lions won again, roaring back twice to beat the Minnesota Vikings 31-29 in an NFC North showdown on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Detroit (5-1) now holds the top spot in the NFC heading into a Week 7 game against the Tennessee Titans (1-5). Here are three things we learned.

Jared Goff is playing like an MVP frontrunner. Yes, frontrunner. Over the last month, he’s completed 83.3% of his passes while posting a passer rating of 140 in all four games. Here’s the complete list of players ever to accomplish that feat: Jared Goff. Hell, he didn’t so much as put a single football on the ground in the first half of three of those games. The only quarterback to do that in multiple games over a career since 1991: Peyton Manning. We could do the number thing all day, but here’s maybe the craziest one of all: Goff has led the Lions to more touchdowns (18) than incomplete passes (16) during the last month, an improbable feat in professional football.
