KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI -- After two years of detours and delays, the Michigan Department of Transportation is nearing the end of a project to rebuild a section of U.S. 131 in Schoolcraft.

Two lanes of U.S. 131, one going northbound and the other southbound, will be open starting Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to an MDOT press release. The open lanes travel through Schoolcraft, beginning south of Shaver Road where U.S. 131 turns from expressway to highway and ending at West XY Avenue.
