An Australian mining and global clean energy company plans to develop a $210 million electric vehicle battery assembly plant in Detroit.

The project, located at 530 and 601 Piquette St., will revitalize a vacant six-story auto factory in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood – near the historic Ford Piquette Plant where Henry Ford invented the Model T. The manufacturing facility could create up to 600 new jobs by 2030.
