In case anyone needed a cruel reminder of the impact COVID-19 can have on sports, the Pontiac football team is the latest example.

Due to a handful of players within the Pontiac program testing positive for COVID-19, the Phoenix will forfeit its Week 3 contest against Ferndale and collect its first loss of the season as a result. The forfeit puts an abrupt end to Pontiac’s unbeaten start to the season and spoiled its first 2-0 start since 2010.
