Three former Detroit Red Wings found new homes this month:

Gustav Lindstrom, Montreal: This stay-at-home defenseman the Red Wings drafted 38th overall in 2017 returned to the Canadiens organization, where Detroit sent him in 2023 as part of the Jeff Petry trade. Lindstrom, 26, signed a one-year, two-way contract for the minimum $775,000 after Anaheim declined to qualify him. He cleared waivers and is playing for AHL Laval.

James Reimer, Anaheim: Reimer won some games for the Red Wings down the stretch to help keep them in the playoff chase but wasn’t re-signed. The 36-year-old inked a one-year, $1 million deal with Buffalo but was claimed off waivers by the Ducks. He’s backing up Lukas Dostal and has appeared in one game – a 3-1 loss to Vegas.

Jakub Vrana, Washington: The highly skilled winger is trying to resurrect his once-promising career where it all started, signing a one-year deal with the Capitals for the league minimum $775,000 after a training camp tryout. He was earning $5.25 million last season in St. Louis in the final year of a three-year contract he signed with the Red Wings in 2021. Vrana has played in more games in the AHL (59) than the NHL (44) since his last appearance with Detroit on Feb. 28, 2023. He was unloaded three days later to St. Louis for a seventh-round pick in 2025. Vrana has one goal in three games this season.
