From gangsters to brawls, uncover Muskegon’s lore on this walking tour

MUSKEGON, MI -- If you’re looking for more than just ghost stories this fall consider a Legends and Lore Tour.

Muskegon Museum of History and Science is guiding a walking tour this month to “look into some of the crazier stories of Muskegon’s past.”

The tour promises to uncover answers these thrilling questions: What happened when a Muskegon detective met a gangster on the run?

Who was planting bombs in downtown Muskegon?

What caused a massive lumbering strike and a near deadly confrontation between workers and a mill owner?

Participants can expect to walk about one mile on the 90-minute tours.

All tours will start and end at the Muskegon Museum of History and Science, located at 430 W. Clay Ave. Tours are scheduled on the following dates:

  • 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23
  • 4:30 - 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Tickets are $15 per person and $13 for museum members. Tickets can be purchased online through lakeshoremuseum.org.
