ELMONT, NY -- On a night when every team is in action across the NHL, the Detroit Red Wings will try to put forth a standout effort when they visit the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

After a couple of tough losses to other teams in New York last week, the Red Wings put together a solid effort this past Saturday in Music City. Two goals from Andrew Copp, Simon Edvinsson, Vladimir Tarasenko, and captain Dylan Larkin also finding the back of the net, sent Detroit to its second win of the season and first on the road against the Nashville Predators, 5-2 the final score.

After an inauspicious first start to his season, goaltender Alex Lyon looked good in his second start of the new campaign, making 37 saves.

On the other side, the Islanders are in a similar boat as the Red Wings, a team with expectations to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After doing so last year, ultimately being knocked out in the first round, the team from Long Island has got off to a good start, picking up points in four of their first five games, including a 4-3 win in a shootout against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, their first victory at home this year.

The Wings won two of the three meetings last year against the Isles, including the lone matchup at UBS Arena.
