WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - Seats are on the line for Washtenaw County sheriff, Ann Arbor City Council and a number of other races throughout the county in the Tuesday, Aug. 6 primary.
The sheriff’s race involves Democrats Alyshia Dyer, Derrick Jackson and Ken Magee. The winner on Tuesday will advance to the November general election to face the winner between a pair of write-in Republican candidate, in the effort to succeed outgoing Sheriff Jerry Clayton.
In Ann Arbor, incumbent Council Member Jen Eyer, D-4th Ward, is seeking re-election against Democratic challenger Mozhgan Savabieasfahani. The winner will not face a Republican in November.
The statewide elections on the ballot include the open U.S. Senate spot with two Democrats and three Republicans facing off.
There are also five Michigan House of Representative races on the ballot for Washtenaw County voters, including the Democratic nomination in the 33rd district and the Republican nominations in the 23rd, 32nd, 47th and 48th districts.
Commissioner races for Washtenaw County, local township elections and millage proposals round out the county ballot.
Uncontested races are not included. Those candidates will automatically advance to the November general election.
The polls close at 8 p.m. Live results for contested races are below. Be aware that it may take a while for the results to come in due to the volume of votes. Refresh this story, or check back as the votes are counted on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Winners are in bold.
