Lone goal lifts Flint Powers Catholic over Imlay City in D3 regional boys soccer clash

FLINT, MI -- Flint Powers Catholic played a close match against Imlay City during a boy‘s Division 3 regional semifinal on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

The Chargers bested the Spartans 1-0 at Kettering University’s Atwood Stadium in Flint.

Powers Catholic‘s Colin Johnson scored the first and only goal in the game’s sixth minute.

The Chargers had several chances to add onto their goal total, but they were thwarted by Imlay City’s goalie Max Galiana.

“I want them to have the same spirit ... going into every game,” said Powers Catholic‘s head coach Paul Stravato, “We’re Powers, we don’t fear anybody. Let’s go. Let’s play.”

Powers Catholic will play against Pontiac Notre Dame Prep for the Division 3 regional championship at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Atwood Stadium.
