LANSING, MI -- An Oakland County man who plays the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky for Life game routinely says he couldn’t believe it when he realized he’d won a prize worth $25,000 a year for life.
“I play Lucky For Life every week,” said Timothy Wiscombe, of White Lake. “I pulled up the winning numbers on my phone the morning after the drawing and couldn’t believe it when I saw I matched five. I must have looked over the winning numbers 100 times before finally telling my wife. Winning $25,000 a year for life is an awesome feeling!”
Wiscombe bought his ticket at the Lakeview Market, located at 9775 Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake, roughly 30 miles southeast of Flint. He matched all five white numbers drawn -- 04-07-09-24-36 -- in the Sept. 27 drawing to win his prize.
Wiscombe elected to receive his money as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $390,000 rather than the annuity which is worth $25,000 a year for the rest of his life or 20 years, whichever is greater. With his winnings, he plans on finishing some home projects, buying a new car, investing and helping those in need.
“Michigan Lottery players have been on an incredible lucky streak playing the Lucky For Life game,” said Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli. “When players, like Timothy, win life-changing lifetime prizes it brings awareness to Lottery games, helping boost sales and increase the Lottery’s contribution to schools!”

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Breakfast Club lottery club which claimed a $842 million jackpot in June 2024. The members plan to use the money to buy a home in Florida and travel.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a Mega Millions winner worth $1 million sold in Southfield in 2023 went unclaimed. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
