LANSING, MI -- A winning Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million went unclaimed by Friday’s deadline meaning the prize money will now be sent to the state’s School Aid Fund.

The winning ticket matched all five white numbers drawn -- 26-28-29-39-49 -- for the drawing on March 17, 2023 to win the $1 million prize. Players in Michigan have one year from the drawing date to claim Mega Millions prizes, however because March 17 is on a Sunday this year the winner had until 4:45 p.m. today to come forward to claim the money.

“Providing quality public education for every child in Michigan is critical, and this $1 million windfall is wonderful news for the School Aid Fund,” said Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli. “On the rare occasions big prizes go unclaimed, it is good to know that they benefit the School Aid Fund and schoolchildren throughout Michigan.”

The ticket was sold at the CVS Pharmacy, located at 18130 West 10 Mile Road in Southfield. The unclaimed ticket marks the first time since 2021 that a prize this large went unclaimed in Michigan.
