UPDATE 12:43 a.m.: The polls have closed and all 66 precincts are reporting results.

MUSKEGON COUNTY -- Voters in Muskegon County and across the state have a couple more hours to cast ballots in the Tuesday, Aug. 6 primary election.

Muskegon County Commission, Muskegon Water Resources Commissioner, U.S. Senate and 3rd Congressional District are all on the ballot. Voters will also decide whether to renew the senior millage, while those in several townships will decide other tax requests like for public safety and schools.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will close at 8 p.m.

Voters will receive a ballot with three columns: one for Republican candidates, one for Democratic candidates and one for nonpartisan candidates and proposals. The primary winner will square off against the opposing party’s nominee in the Nov. 5 election.

While everyone can cast votes on nonpartisan candidates and proposals, they must vote for candidates in the same party on the entire ballot. Failure to do so will invalidate the ballot.

Those who plan to vote in-person between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. can check their registration status and polling place at www.mi.gov/vote.

Check back here after 8 p.m. to get live updates on voting as numbers come in. Muskegon County tallies will be provided in contested elections only and winners will be highlighted in bold. (Click the links in each race for more details.)
