OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — Complying with a request from Ottawa County Administrator John Gibbs, the county’s health department submitted a version of its 2024 budget that included a significant cut amounting to millions of dollars in general funds.

The health department’s administrative leader says the proposed cut -- covering a 63% reduction from the original department budget’s general funding -- puts the future of the county’s public health department in doubt.
