Lee Thompson has served as a sportswriter at MLive and The Bay City Times since 1996, covering all local sports with an emphasis on our 24 area high schools. He has earned numerous awards from the Michigan Press Association and the Associated Press, sweeping first place in four different categories three times in his career. He was honored with the President's Award by the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Prior to joining The Bay City Times, he served as sports editor at Mount Pleasant Morning Sun and also worked at The Saginaw News, the Midland Daily News and the Ogemaw County Herald. The Bay City native is a 1986 graduate of T.L. Handy High School and a 1990 graduate of Central Michigan University, where he served as sports editor of CM Life. He and wife Diane have four sons.
