We should have several record high temperatures today, but how long does the heat last?
Yesterday, October 20, had a few record high temperatures in Michigan. Traverse City and Pellston where the two official record high temperatures. Traverse City warmed to 79 degrees Sunday afternoon and Pellston to 77 degrees. That’s a very warm day for the city that prides itself as the “icebox of Michigan.”
Today will likely be the peak of the hot temperatures over Michigan, with many of us hitting 80 degrees this afternoon. There are some extreme previous record high temperatures from a very hot October 21, 1953. Due to the extreme record highs in Lower Michigan being around 85 degrees, some of us will miss an official record high by a couple of degrees.
