GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers will face U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly, in the November election for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat.
Rogers, a former FBI agent who spent 14-years in the U.S. House representing the Howell area from 2001 through 2014, won the Republican primary with 69% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Slotkin, a former CIA officer who has represented mid-Michigan in Congress since 2018, won the Democratic primary with 76.5% of the vote.
The two will now face one another in the November general election. They’re vying to replace U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing, who has represented Michigan in the Senate for more than two decades and did not seek a fifth term.

Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township (13.1%); Dr. Sherry O’Donnell (10.7%); and businessman and economist Sandy Pensler (7.9%), who dropped out of the race last month but whose name still appeared on the ballot.
On the Democratic side, Slotkin defeated actor Hill Harper, of Detroit, who received 23.5% of the vote, according to the AP.
