YPSILANTI, MI - Ypsilanti police have increased their presence following downtown safety concerns, despite recent protests opposing increased law enforcement in the area.

Incidents of disorderly conduct have shot up in the last year, particularly at South Washington Street, prompting concern, Chief Kirk Moore said at a community meeting Wednesday night, Oct. 23, in the Ypsilanti Freighthouse, while outlining an approach that increases police presence in the area.
