Dice, a local millionaire who is the same person who in the past year has purchased the Midland Mall and the Bay City-based candy shop St. Laurent Brothers, added the State Theatre to his business portfolio in August.
Dice acquired the building on Aug. 1 through an auction before a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge. He was awarded the theater for $960,000 after it appeared the building had been purchased through a Realtor by a northern Michigan businessman.
Dice previously said he would like to have the theater operate as an actual movie theater, allowing for regular programming and new and old films.
Friday’s show will be the first event held at the theater since it closed in February.
